About Me

My name is Carol Lynn Scherling and I am an author and artist.

My publishing experience includes writing and research. Currently an English and Art major at University of Delaware. Positions held includes Art and Culture staff reporter and Illustrator for The Review, UD’s newspaper and editor for Caesura, UD Art and Writing Journal.

Other publishing experience includes publication of my book, Blondie Goes to Hollywood (The Blondie Comic Strip in Films, Radio and Television), contributor writer for Films of the Golden Age and poetry in Delaware Bards.

My art experience includes painting, illustrating and sculpting. I am the owner of Take 1 Studio LLC, which I design, create and sell my own blank greeting cards, bookmarks, prints and paper mache sculptures.

I began writing when I started watching the Blondie films and I became an instant fan. As I saw the entire film series I wanted to know about the cast and it was then I got the idea to write a book about the series. I had no previous writing experience; however, I already had a collection of film reference and biographies books. I also knew what kind of book I wanted to write about Blondie. It was then I began my long journey into writing my first book.

Art for me began drawing illustrations of many of my interests: cake decorating, baking, food, pets, retro, cartoons, local history, architecture, books/reading fashion and LGBTQ+ themes.
